Brad Gross 1972-2017

Brad Gross, co-founder of Blast Science, passed away in 2017 aged just 45. He is hugely missed by all who knew him, as well as by countless kids across Sussex and beyond.

Below we've showcased all his favourite shows & experiments. So very missed.

Brad The B in BLAST, Brad was co-founder and star performer in Blast Science from its inception until his untimely death in 2017. He loved nothing more than being on a stage, larking about and entertaining and educating children about the wonders of Science. He did this for more than 15 years in one form or another and was a born performer and a self-taught scientist. Brad - who hailed from New York - was a former London Science Museum Presenter and Head of Science Outreach at Herstmonceux Observatory in Sussex, not to mention underwater welder, teacher, TV presenter, landscaper, jazz musician and too many other ridiculous jobs to mention.

He was both a Director and Performer in Blast Science and particularly loved the more dangerous experiments involving fire, loud bangs and lots of audience reaction. Alongside this Brad played as a highly talented jazz drummer in a host of Hastings-based bands. He liked 1950s tweed suits, proper coffee and Star Wars. He is hugely missed and his legacy lives on in Blast Science.

Brad's favourite finale - FIRE!

"You've got to have fire. Its a Science Show after all!"

The Sound Show/Project Eardrum

"Feel it - Good Vibrations."

Brad: "We live in a complicated world." The Space Show.

The Materials Show. "Stuff is made of stuff. And that stuff is made of different stuff. But the different stuff is made of the same stuff!" Say it!
